A new Yahoo/YouGov poll has revealed that a majority of Republican voters and nearly half of Democratic voters believe that President Joe Biden is too old to run for a second term. The poll, which surveyed 1,516 adults between February 23 and February 27, showed that 68% of all participants believe that 80 is too old for any candidate to be president. This sentiment was echoed by 60% of Republicans, 48% of Democrats, and 71% of Independent voters.

The poll also revealed that 45% of all voters would prefer Former President Donald Trump over Biden if the presidential election were held today. This sentiment was supported by 46% of Independents and a strong 89% of Republicans.
One year into the war between Ukraine and Russia, most Donald Trump voters now say the U.S. has given “too much” military aid to Ukraine (51%) and that such aid should “decrease” going forward (54%), according to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll. https://t.co/Ln1VexDqje

The results of this poll are concerning for President Biden, who is the oldest president in history. If he were to win the 2024 re-election, he would be 82 at the beginning of the term and 86 at the end. This raises serious questions about his mental and cognitive capacity, especially considering that 68% of all participants are in favor of “mandatory mental-competency tests for politicians over 75 years old, with results released to the public.”
It is clear that Republican voters are not convinced that President Biden is fit to run for a second term due to his advanced age. This is understandable, as Biden has not yet formally declared to run for a second term and has been unable to prove that he is capable of handling the rigors of a second term. Furthermore, the fact that Former President Trump is still favored by many voters over Biden shows that Republicans are not convinced that Biden is the best candidate for the job.
It remains to be seen if President Biden will be able to prove himself capable of running for a second term and if Republican voters will be convinced to support him. However, it is clear from this poll that Biden has a long way to go before he can win over Republican voters and secure a second term.
