AOC in Hot Water: OCE Report Suggests Federal Law Violation

The Office of Congressional Ethics Board has suggested that the Committee investigate the claims that Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez received unauthorized gifts during her presence at the 2021 Met Gala. This act would breach both House regulations, ethical principles, and national legislation. After assessing the situation, the board determined that there is considerable evidence to support the assertion that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez received unacceptable gifts, and therefore, voted unanimously with five votes in favor and none against, to recommend that the Committee investigate the matter further.

According to the report published on Thursday, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was given a custom-made dress, handbag, shoes, and jewelry, along with hair, makeup, transportation, and access to a dressing room, during her attendance at the Met Gala. It seems that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez did not pay for the use of the items or services until after the Office of Congressional Ethics reached out to her for an investigation. Even though there were attempts to address compliance concerns beforehand, it is believed that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez would have owed several thousand dollars for the services had it not been for the OCE’s intervention.

The recommendation of the Board of the Office of Congressional Ethics is yet another example of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s disregard for the rules and laws that govern our nation. It is clear that she is willing to take advantage of her position of power and influence to receive gifts and services that she would not otherwise be able to receive. This is a blatant abuse of her office and a violation of House rules, standards of conduct, and federal law. It is time for Rep. Ocasio-Cortez to be held accountable for her actions and face the consequences for her actions.
