Rep. McCarthy Promises To Begin Congress’s Meeting With The Pledge of Allegiance

Kevin McCarthy, a member of the House of Representatives, has pledged to revive long-standing customs.

After Trump supporter Kevin Kiley (R-Calif.) won a House seat, the GOP is now poised to retake the House in the next Congress. His victory gave the Republicans control of the House of Representatives by the bare minimum of 218 seats.

McCarthy was voted into the position of House Speaker with 188 votes last week. Representative Andy Biggs (R-Arizona), his opponent, received 31 votes. To be declared the winner, he needs 218 yes votes.

McCarthy (R-Calif.) wrote on Facebook on Monday that the Pledge of Allegiance and the invocation of God will be recited at the start of every Congressional session going forward.

The Republican's promise was widely praised by his supporters, with some claiming it will increase admiration for America among lawmakers.

McCarthy has also promised that if he is elected House Speaker, he will expel several Democrats who have attacked America's allies, helped America's enemies, and undermined trust in America's institutions.

Included in this group are Democratic Representatives Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Eric Swalwell of California, and Republican Representative Adam Schiff of California.
