Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia may not seek reelection. According to an expert, he could still run for higher office.
Due to the state's Republican stronghold, Manchin is expected to face a tough challenge in his reelection bid.
Greg Noone, a professor at Fairmont State University, stated on the Talk of the Town radio program that Manchin should consider running for president. He cited the strong Republican candidates such as West Virginia Governor Jim Justice.
According to Noone, Manchin could help the Democratic Party by bringing it back to the center. He noted that the senator can convince people that he's capable of running for president in November.
The race for Manchin's seat in 2024 is one of the top targets for the Republicans. Justice and Congressman Alex Mooney are already planning on challenging him.
In early April, Justice said that he was seriously considering running for the Senate. He noted that he had a lot of thought and planning.
