Over the weekend leading up to the inauguration, a controversial tweet by Katie Rich, a writer for Saturday Night Live, stirred up quite a commotion on social media. Rich took a jab at Barron Trump, insinuating he could potentially become the “country’s first homeschool shooter.” This tasteless remark instantly sparked outrage across various online platforms, rightfully so!
As a writer for the liberal haven of Saturday Night Live since 2013, Rich has faced intense backlash for her inappropriate choice of words. Many voices demanded her immediate termination, and rightly so! Making baseless and hurtful attacks on a young child is beyond the pale, even for the most ardent critics of Barron’s father, former President Donald Trump.

In response to the public outcry, Rich was suspended from her role at SNL for an unspecified period. It’s refreshing to see some repercussions for such vile behavior, even in the typically left-leaning realm of Hollywood. Let this be a lesson to all those who think it’s acceptable to target innocent children for cheap laughs – there are consequences to such despicable actions!
The fact that Barron Trump, just a ten-year-old boy at the time, was subjected to such unwarranted scrutiny speaks volumes about the lengths some will go to attack the Trump family. The meme circulating comparing him to the detested Game of Thrones character King Joffrey is just another example of the left’s insensitivity towards the Trumps, especially when it comes to their youngest members.
Kudos to those who spoke out against Rich’s tweet and demanded accountability. It’s heartening to see that there are still boundaries of decency and respect that must not be crossed, regardless of political differences. Let’s hope this serves as a cautionary tale for anyone else harboring malicious intent towards innocent children simply because of who their parents are.
