The late sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein had connections to socialist intellectual Noam Chomsky, according to documents reviewed by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ). It turns out Epstein had meetings set up with Chomsky in 2015 and 2016 when he was a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). According to the WSJ, one of the meetings between the two allegedly covered geopolitics and Israel-Palestine relations with former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak. This is odd, given Chomsky’s hatred for the country and the US’s foreign policy in the Middle East.

Epstein also met with Chomsky and other academics in March 2015 to discuss neuroscience, among other topics. Additionally, Epstein arranged for Chomsky and his wife to have dinner with filmmaker Woody Allen and his wife in May 2015.

Chomsky refused to answer any questions posed by the WSJ about his relationship with Epstein. He told the outlet that the information provided was “none of your business.” Moreover, Chomsky stated that “what was known about Jeffrey Epstein was that he had been convicted of a crime and had served his sentence. According to U.S. laws and norms, that yields a clean slate.”
It’s important to note that Epstein was convicted of soliciting a minor for prostitution in 2008, though he only spent 13 months in a work-release program and had to register as a sex offender. However, Chomsky was allegedly aware of Epstein’s criminal history before meeting with him. MIT, where both Epstein and Chomsky were associated, investigated ties to the sex offender but found no evidence of Chomsky meeting with Epstein on campus or receiving funding from him.
It’s disturbing to imagine that a socialist intellectual used his platform to cozy up with a convicted sex offender like Epstein. The fact that Chomsky met with Epstein despite being aware of his criminal past is deeply concerning. This just goes to show that the left-wing elites are not as virtuous as they claim to be.
