Furthermore, the majority of Texans surveyed also expressed their support for making illegal entry into the U.S. a state crime, as well as using buoys to deter unlawful immigrants. These decisive measures have encountered fierce resistance from the Biden administration, yet the resounding support from the people of Texas underscores their faith in Gov. Abbott’s firm leadership.
Remarkably, even Democrats are witnessing a shift in their perspectives on the border issue, with a growing number showing increased support for robust immigration measures. James Henson, Director of the Texas Politics Project, noted this evolving trend, highlighting the rising minority of Democrats advocating for tougher border security measures as a response to the ongoing migrant crisis.
