Ryan, who is running against J.D. Vance for the open Senate seat in Ohio, made the promise to the American Civil Liberties Union during his campaign for president in 2019.
Ryan said that he would free about 75% of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainees. This would have resulted in the release of around 42,000 illegal immigrants into the communities. Many of them would have been convicted criminals, while the others would have been released due to their pending criminal charges.

It is absolutely ridiculous that Tim Ryan would promise to deliver illegal immigrants to communities across the country, especially since the Biden administration is led by Kamala Harris, who is running as the vice president. The economy is already struggling, and the addition of more illegal immigrants would only make it worse.
