Trump Team Keeps Iran on Edge as Military Strategy Unfolds

Americans woke up to a stark reminder this weekend that the regime in Tehran continues to play by its own rules, not ours. House Oversight Chairman James Comer told Newsmax’s Wake Up America that Iran has repeatedly broken promises and that the Trump administration is right to keep every option on the table as a deterrent to further aggression.

The White House has refused to be boxed in by the same timid playbook that got us into trouble for decades, with officials making clear they will not voluntarily remove tools from the president’s hand while the situation evolves. That clarity matters — when adversaries sniff weakness, they act; firmness and ambiguity about next moves preserve American leverage.

Meanwhile U.S. and allied strikes have intensified in recent weeks, and military leaders say operations could last while we push to degrade Iran’s ability to threaten the region and American personnel. This is not saber-rattling for headlines — it’s a purposeful campaign designed to defend our friends, protect global energy supplies, and keep the homeland safe.

Within the conservative movement there is rightly a preference for exhausting diplomacy first, but real diplomacy requires strength, not capitulation. Vice President JD Vance has said President Trump prefers a diplomatic resolution but is prepared to press Tehran hard on nuclear constraints and proxy behavior — exactly the posture a serious commander-in-chief should take.

What Americans shouldn’t tolerate is the usual chorus of Washington squawkers rushing to tie the president’s hands during a time of war. Democrats who reflexively demand constraints on the commander-in-chief are playing into the enemy’s hands; if Congress wants to be constructive it will bolster our troops and back a clear strategy, not grandstand for cable television.

The truth is simple: Iran has a long record of deception and aggression, and the United States must act like it understands that reality. We owe our men and women in uniform decisive backing, and we owe working Americans the peace of mind that comes from a government willing to defend our interests — no excuses, no appeasement, and no letting dangerous regimes set the rules.
