In a recent poll, former President Donald Trump is steamrolling over his GOP primary opponents for the 2024 election, leaving them in the dust behind his political juggernaut. As if that weren’t enough, the big question on many voters’ minds is who Trump will tap as his running mate. The clear frontrunner, according to the latest I&I/TIPP’s national online poll, is none other than Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL).

The poll results were as clear as day, with DeSantis leading the pack by a wide margin, leaving Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy trailing far behind. The analysis revealed that when Republicans were asked about Trump’s potential running mate in two different ways, DeSantis was the unanimous top choice, further solidifying his position as the prime pick.
To add insult to injury for the other potential VP candidates, the I&I/TIPP outfit tallied up the scores from both questions and found that DeSantis had a whopping 34% of the total votes, while Haley only managed to grab 24%, and Ramaswamy lagged even further behind with 21%. The rest of the contenders, like Sen. Tim Scott, Ben Carson, Tucker Carlson, and Gov. Kristi Noem, were left in DeSantis’ dust by a considerable margin.
While DeSantis and Ramaswamy withdrew from the race due to lackluster support and resources, Haley remains the lone competitor still in the ring. However, Trump has a double-digit lead over her, making it seem like an uphill battle for the former U.N. ambassador.
Trump has hinted at announcing his running mate before the summer Republican National Convention, raising expectations and speculation about who he’ll ultimately choose. Amid the swirl of rumors, speculation abounds that Trump may opt for a female or black running mate.
Insider whispers suggest that DeSantis, Scott, Noem, and Carlson are the top contenders for the vice presidential slot. Others reportedly on Trump’s radar include Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-AR), and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY).
