It’s 2024 and the never-ending circus known as the presidential primary season is in full swing. Now, the question of a potential running mate for former President Donald Trump has taken center stage. One name that has been tossed around is Congresswoman Elise Stefanik from the great state of New York. Some may dismiss the idea, but this conservative writer respectfully disagrees.
When considering a vice president, two factors should be taken into account. First, they should have the capability to step into the highest office if needed. We can all agree that the thought of Kamala Harris as president is enough to give anyone nightmares. The second factor is what they bring to the ticket. Throughout history, vice presidential selections have been made to appeal to different demographics or add some pizzazz to the campaign. Just look at the odd pairing of John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson. Kennedy wanted to win over Southern voters and Johnson brought experience. Sure, they ended up hating each other, but that’s politics for you.

So, let’s take a closer look at Trump and Stefanik. While some may argue that she is too moderate, it’s important to remember that Trump is no traditional conservative Republican himself. Stefanik has been consistently supportive of Trump, even when she didn’t see eye to eye with him. Take, for example, her opposition to his decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord. Loyalty is something Trump values greatly, and Stefanik has demonstrated unwavering support.
Furthermore, Stefanik has managed to avoid any scandal that could tarnish her career ambitions. With the media constantly gunning for her because of her pro-Trump stance, if there was anything juicy to exploit, they would have done it by now. Stefanik knows how to fight back and wouldn’t let the media bring her down. Plus, she’s a suburban wife and mom, which could help appeal to that important demographic.
All things considered, there is much to recommend Elise Stefanik as a running mate. While Trump hasn’t revealed his preferences just yet, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Stefanik at the top of his shortlist. She’s a strong, loyal, and formidable candidate who could bring a fresh perspective to the ticket. So, don’t count her out just yet.
In conclusion, Elise Stefanik has what it takes to be a great vice president. She has proven her loyalty to Trump, navigated the treacherous waters of the media, and remained untarnished by scandal. If given the chance, she could be the perfect running mate to complement Trump’s unconventional approach. So, keep an eye on Stefanik because she just might surprise us all.
