Twice Released Terror Suspect Underscores Biden Border Failures

An illegal immigrant with ties to a terrorist group has been released into the United States not once, but twice, due to President Biden’s lenient border policies. The Afghan national, Mohammed Karwan, is affiliated with Hezb-e-Islami (HIG), a group responsible for deadly attacks on American service members and citizens. He first entered the U.S. illegally in March 2023 from Mexico, and despite suspicions of being on a terror watchlist, border agents released him without contacting the FBI.

Karwan was later apprehended by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in San Antonio, Texas, but was once again released after ICE officials withheld information about his terror ties from the judge. Even after being apprehended for the third time, the Biden administration claimed they acted “as soon as there was information to suggest this individual was of concern.”

This alarming incident raises serious concerns about national security and the safety of Americans. The Biden administration’s “catch and release” approach to illegal immigration has resulted in numerous inadmissible aliens being released into the U.S. interior. With individuals like Karwan being allowed to stay in the country and even work and travel freely, it is difficult for Americans to feel safe.

FBI Director Christopher Wray recently warned about the potential for a coordinated attack in the U.S., echoing the need for stricter immigration policies and border security. The Biden administration’s failure to properly address the border crisis and national security threats is putting American lives at risk. Allowing individuals with suspected terrorist ties to roam freely within the country poses a significant threat to public safety.
