In a recent interview with Fox News, U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds from Florida slammed President Biden’s border policies, remarking that the President handed over “operational control” of the southern border to human traffickers and drug cartels. Donalds was quick to point out that the crisis at the border is due to the recklessness of Joe Biden’s desire to tear down the effective Trump-era policies, which had our border well under control. He commented, “What the Democrats have always wanted is this massive surge to the border with no checks at all.”

As a conservative, Donalds rejected the leftist notion that the GOP’s border policies are cruel and inhumane. In reality, the lack of solution to the crisis is causing more suffering for both migrants and U.S. citizens. As Donalds stated, the Democrats tend to call a policy cruel if they do not like it, but the real cruelty is the young women who are being raped in their journey towards the southern border.
Donalds believes that the drug cartels are making $13 billion this year, trafficking individuals to our southern border, and using Joe Biden’s reckless policy to transport massive amounts of fentanyl into the country, resulting in the death of 75,000 Americans each year. “That’s inhumane,” he said.
When U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson (R-GA) accused the Republicans of welcoming the border crisis and wanting to bring back “slavery,” Donalds responded by rejecting Johnson’s assertion and made a remark about an infamous video where the Georgia congressman was worried that the island of Guam would “tip over and capsize.”
Donalds believes that Republicans want a secure and orderly process at our southern border, and the Democrats’ border crisis strategy makes no sense. The current border agents are so bogged down with paperwork that it prevents them from being able to fulfill their duty of patrolling the border. It is a complete debacle that could have been easily avoided if Biden had chosen to continue the policies that were working for our country.
