Despite America’s staggering $31 trillion debt, President Joe Biden, through his Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, has authorized another round of payments to Ukraine worth $350 million. Blinken, in a statement on Monday, said that the assistance was necessary, given the “unconscionable war of aggression against Ukraine by Russia.” This new package, like the 33 previous ones, includes ammunitions for U.S.-provided HIMARS and howitzers, Bradly Infantry Fighting Vehicles, HARM missiles, anti-tank weapons, riverine boats, and other equipment. Blinken pledged that the United States would continue to provide aid to Ukraine’s military for “as long as it takes.”

This latest help comes after the Biden administration supposedly provided over $30 billion worth of military supplies since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2020. The administration also announced that it would give another $10 billion in direct aid to the Ukrainian government.

Although different outlets have praised American support for Ukraine, some critics contend that the current administration is only prolonging the war in Ukraine to put the blame on Russia. Fox News host Tucker Carlson went further, alleging that the Biden administration doesn’t care about what’s happening in Ukraine; otherwise, it would halt the war. Carlson warned that the present administration’s misguided choices would eventually lead to a catastrophic conflict with Russia.
Regardless of what any liberal news outlet will say, the staggering level of America’s debt is another reason why sending $350 million to Ukraine is outrageous. Biden campaigns about “building back better,” while in reality, his policies keep plunging the country into more debt. It’s a strategy that defies common sense and puts America’s interests last. Biden’s political agenda should not outweigh the need to balance the budget and create a sustainable and prosperous future for America.
