CNN’s “Inside Politics” had a shocking moment when a Wall Street Journal poll revealed President Joe Biden only narrowly leading on protecting democracy against former President Donald Trump. The poll in swing states showed Biden at 43% and Trump at 42%. CNN’s Nia-Malika Henderson seemed surprised by this slim margin. It’s quite eyebrow-raising that Biden, who touts himself as the savior of democracy, is just barely edging out someone the left views as a democracy destroyer. One would think Biden, surrounded by the halo of being a democratically-elected president, would be lightyears ahead of Trump in this aspect. But alas, the reality is anything but.
The numbers from the poll continued to shock as Trump held a 20% lead over Biden in handling immigration and the economy in the same swing states. It’s no secret that a good chunk of voters believe the economy thrived under Trump’s leadership. The stark contrast in these statistics must have sent shivers down the spines of Democratic strategists who have been banking on Biden’s supposed strengths.

And let’s not forget the legal drama surrounding Trump. Special counsel Jack Smith charged Trump with “Conspiracy to defraud the United States” and obstruction in a four-count indictment related to contesting the 2020 election results. However, legal experts were quick to point out that much of the alleged criminal conduct seemed to fall under First Amendment protections. The left’s continual attempts to criminalize Trump’s actions only seem to be falling flat, like a deflated balloon at a birthday party.
Biden’s accusations against Republicans of embracing “semi-fascism” and labeling Trump supporters as a “threat” to democracy are nothing new. It seems like every day is a broken record of Democrat leaders demonizing anyone who doesn’t bow at the altar of their ideology. Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. went against the tide by pointing out Biden’s own threats to democracy through social media censorship. It’s refreshing to see someone dare to speak out against the sacred cows of the left.
In the end, the poll results may have shaken some Democrats to their core as they come face to face with the harsh reality that their golden boy Biden might not be as untouchable as they thought. Maybe it’s time for them to reassess their strategies and narratives instead of relying on tired accusations and fear-mongering. The winds of change are blowing, and it’s up to the Democrats to decide if they want to ride the wave or be swept away by it.
