The Archbishop of Washington D.C., Cardinal Wilton Gregory, didn’t hold back as he made it crystal clear that he thinks President Joe Biden is nothing more than a “cafeteria Catholic.” That’s right, folks, he’s accusing ol’ Joe of cherry-picking which Catholic teachings he wants to follow and conveniently ignoring the ones that don’t quite fit his agenda. Can you believe that? It’s like going to an all-you-can-eat buffet and only filling up on the mashed potatoes while pretending the broccoli doesn’t exist! But hey, who needs consistency when you’re the leader of the free world, right?

During an appearance on Face the Nation, which just happened to fall on National Transgender Visibility Day (coincidence? I think not), Cardinal Gregory didn’t mince words when he was asked about Biden’s supposed devotion to the Catholic faith. According to the Cardinal, Biden may talk a big game about being a devout Catholic, but when it comes down to it, he’s just picking and choosing which parts of the faith to embrace and which ones to conveniently forget. It’s like trying to have your cake and eat it too, am I right?
Now, it’s no secret that Biden has been under fire for his support of abortion rights, which goes directly against the teachings of the Catholic Church. And let’s not forget his decision to acknowledge National Transgender Visibility Day, which has the conservative crowd up in arms, claiming he’s trying to cancel Easter altogether. Oh, the irony! I mean, just imagine the audacity of a Catholic president celebrating a holiday that’s been around for centuries while also acknowledging a day dedicated to transgender visibility. It’s almost like he thinks he can please everyone and their dog with his wishy-washy actions. Classic Joe.
As if that wasn’t enough, Biden’s Easter message on social media didn’t exactly sit well with the Catholic conservatives either. I mean, sure, he talked about the power of hope and the promise of Christ’s Resurrection, but it’s all just empty words when his actions don’t align with his faith, right? And let’s not even get started on the fact that he’s only the second Catholic president in U.S. history. John F. Kennedy must be rollin’ in his grave at the thought of someone like Biden representing the Catholic faith from the Oval Office.
In the end, it’s clear that Cardinal Gregory isn’t buying into Biden’s supposed devotion to Catholicism, and it’s not hard to see why. After all, when you’re picking and choosing which parts of your faith to follow, all while holding the highest office in the land, it’s no wonder the Archbishop is calling you out on it. Looks like Biden’s got some explaining to do if he wants to convince the Catholic conservatives that he’s more than just a “cafeteria Catholic.” Good luck with that, Joe!
