As reported by OANN, the office of Attorney General Garland has appointed a special counsel to look into the matter of whether or not former President Donald Trump should be prosecuted.
Jack Smith will oversee the investigations into Trump. Among the topics he'll be looking into are the materials taken from the raid on Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort and the protests that occurred in Washington DC on January 6.
Smith started his career in law enforcement in 1994. He worked as an assistant district attorney in New York.

He became the chief prosecutor of a special court in The Hague in 2018. It's charged with investigating and trying war crimes committed in Kosovo.
According to Garland, Smith will be returning to the US soon. This comes as Trump has maintained that he has no wrongdoing regarding the investigations.
