Donald Trump is facing various legal issues. Among these is the possible release of his income tax returns.
On Tuesday, the House Ways and Means Committee, which is controlled by Democrats, voted to release Trump's tax returns. The committee also released a summary report that revealed that the IRS did not carry out an audit of his returns until they were requested by the committee.
According to Michael McAuliffe, a former prosecutor, the release of Trump's tax returns would be a serious setback to his efforts to regain political power. He stated that it also represented a legal threat.
On Tuesday, Don Beyer, a Democrat from the House Ways and Means committee, revealed in a tweet that the committee had requested Trump's taxes from the IRS on April 3, 2019. He noted that the IRS then started its first audit of Trump's returns.
Trump refused to release his tax returns during his time in office, claiming that he was under investigation by the IRS.
Apart from the possible release of his tax returns, Trump also faces various legal issues. One of these is the investigation by the Department of Justice into the documents found at his Mar-a-Lago property.
