The GOP race for the 2024 nomination is heating up, and it’s no surprise that Donald Trump is once again the front runner. His earned media coverage from legal actions contrasted with the politically motivated witch hunt against him has only served to bolster his support. While it’s a daunting task, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis understands that he needs to contend with Trump in order to win the Republican nomination.
Unlike other potential candidates, DeSantis has wisely decided to skip the exploratory committee phase and rely on his conservative record and impressive re-election win. His wife Casey tweeted a short video of him preparing for a big Twitter event with Elon Musk, and it’s clear that he means business.
However, as much as we hope for a peaceful contest between the two candidates, there are unfortunately loudmouths on both sides that could create a divide that will be difficult to mend. We must remember that the ultimate goal is to come together as a unified party to take on Joe Biden in 2024.

While DeSantis is a great alternative if Trump falters, he still has a long way to go to prove that he can withstand the attacks that Trump will undoubtedly hurl his way. It’s essentially a binary choice between Trump and DeSantis, and it’s important for Republican voters to remember this fact.
Regardless of who ultimately wins the nomination, it’s important for the party to come together in support. We can’t afford to allow the rift between the two camps to extend beyond the election, or we will risk once again allowing the Democrats to take control of the White House.
