Federal Prosecutors Conclude Case in Hunter Biden Firearms Trial

Federal prosecutors have finished presenting their case against Hunter Biden, son of President Biden, in a trial that alleges he lied about being a drug user on a firearms form. The case included testimony from eight witnesses over four days, with the last witness being a Drug Enforcement Administration agent who mentioned coded language in Hunter Biden’s text messages that he claimed referred to drugs.

According to the prosecution, Hunter Biden purchased a Colt revolver in October 2018 and lied about being a drug user on a federal firearms form when he bought it. The firearm was in his possession for about 11 days before it was discarded by his ex-girlfriend and sister-in-law, Hallie Biden.

Now, it is the defense’s turn to present their case and call witnesses. Hunter Biden’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, mentioned that their witnesses could continue into Monday and that they were still deciding whether Hunter Biden would testify in the trial.

One of the most impactful witnesses for the prosecution was Hallie Biden, who testified about her romantic relationship with Hunter Biden following the death of her husband, Beau, who was also Hunter’s brother. She claimed she saw evidence of Hunter using crack cocaine shortly after he obtained the gun in October 2018.

Hallie Biden also revealed her struggle with crack addiction, stating that Hunter Biden introduced her to the drug in 2018 and that she is now clean but feels “embarrassed and ashamed” of that period in her life. She mentioned text messages exchanged with Hunter Biden days after he purchased the gun, where he allegedly admitted to smoking crack and buying from a dealer named “Mookie.”

The trial continues as the defense prepares to present its case.
