The House Republicans have given a strong thumbs-down to President Biden’s border policies by passing a resolution that brings the heat to the White House for not using executive authority to curb the illegal influx of immigrants across the southern border. It’s like they’re saying, “Hey, Joe, why aren’t you doing anything about this mess at the border?”

The resolution, proposed by Rep. Monica De La Cruz, finger-points squarely at the Biden administration for putting the brakes on quick deportations, which the Republicans bark is only encouraging more folks to sneak into the country and making the border turmoil even worse. The House Republicans led the charge to sling mud at Biden for what they see as his dropping the ball on border security.
To add salt to the wound, a group of 14 House Democrats defected and sided with the resolution, publicly throwing shade at their own party. This is the latest jab from the GOP to give Biden a wake-up call on his lack of handling the border crisis.
And that wasn’t enough, as the twister continued at Biden’s State of the Union address. The House Republicans were all ears, hoping to hear game plans to fix the border mess, but to their disapproval, they say they got blame-shifting. So, Rep. De La Cruz decided to drop the resolution bomb on the same day, making it loud and clear that the nation’s border security situation isn’t getting a passing grade.
And now, here’s where it gets even more fiery. There’s been a hot-button discussion on how to tackle border security after the tragic death of nursing student Laken Riley, allegedly killed by an immigrant who waltzed into the country without permission. This turned up the heat as the Republicans barked at the Democrats to sign off on House Resolution 2, a border security bill from last year. But that’s not the end! The House even jumped into action and passed the Laken Riley Act, putting the clamps on immigrants charged with crimes such as burglary or theft.
The GOP is revving up their engines on border security and immigration, making it their main weapon to take shots at the president, especially with the 2024 election fast approaching. It seems like the polls are saying that immigration tops the list of concerns for voters.
But hold onto your hats, because the House Democrats are firing back, calling the Republican resolution just another tactic to stall instead of putting their heads together and coming up with a bipartisan border game plan. They’ve been throwing darts at the House and Senate Republicans for knocking the wind out of a bipartisan border-Ukraine funding bill earlier this year.
In the end, the Democrats are poking fun at the Republicans, saying they can’t make much headway on laws, so now they’re resorting to those warm and fuzzy feelings they get from passing resolutions. Ouch! That’s got to sting!
