John Hamasaki, a controversial progressive who is running for San Francisco district attorney, has sparked outrage by belittling the victims of a robbery in the city. This robbery saw over $10,000 worth of equipment and passports taken out of a car, leaving the unfortunate victims traumatized.

Hamasaki, in typical liberal fashion, dismissed the victims’ experiences, suggesting that they were too sheltered to deal with the realities of city life. “Is this what the suburbs do to you?” he sneered. “Shelter you from basic city life experiences so that when they happen you are broken to the core?”
A teammate visiting San Francisco for an offsite called me frantically last night. After dinner at Fisherman’s Wharf they came back to a smashed car window and 2 stolen backpacks. $10K in gear lost, passports gone, etc. #SanFrancisco

And my teammates will be scarred forever, being robbed hits you at your core, especially when it’s thousands of dollars of loss. There is no downtown recovery without an aggressive push for safety @LondonBreed

Interesting. Would getting your car window broken and some stuff stolen leave you “scarred forever”?

Again, not to say it doesn’t suck. But maybe city life just isn’t for you. It’s not the suburbs. There is crime.
I’m grateful most of it is property crime instead of violent crime. But I’ve always felt safe in San Francisco, even after being on the wrong side of violent crime.

Got robbed. Again. @jasonkCNN & I were at city hall in San Francisco to do an interview for @CNN. We had security to watch our rental car + crew car. Thieves did this in under 4 seconds. Security stopped the jerks from stealing other bags. But seriously- this is ridiculous pic.twitter.com/3zcCzckavW

San Francisco is a beautiful city. This is our 3rd day here and I’ve loved my time here. But if you do visit this city, know that even with hired security watching your car, it is not enough. pic.twitter.com/Hi7UPSG5g5

This callous disregard for the safety and wellbeing of San Franciscans is exactly why Hamasaki is unfit for the role of district attorney. Conservatives know that the safety of our communities is paramount, and that the victims of crime deserve our full support and sympathy.
Sadly, this kind of behavior is all too common in San Francisco, where “smash and grab” robberies have become an epidemic. Some residents now leave their trunks and windows open just to show potential thieves that there is nothing worth stealing.
Even CNN reporters are not safe in this city, as one recently found out. Despite having security watching their car, the reporters became the victims of a smash and grab. The security guard was unable to catch the culprits, but he did manage to get a photo of their getaway car.
It’s time for conservatives to take charge in San Francisco and restore law and order to this once-great city. We need a district attorney who will stand up for victims and put criminals behind bars, not one who belittles the suffering caused by crime.
