Mills Blasts CBP for Poor Treatment of Veterans Under Biden

Rep. Cory Mills, a Republican from Florida, has raised concerns over the treatment of veterans within the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) department. He sent a letter to Commissioner Troy Miller, expressing his worries about reports of what he called "maltreatment" of veterans. The letter, obtained exclusively by the Washington Examiner, detailed Mills' concerns about veterans not receiving the same support and resources as regular Border Patrol employees.

Mills highlighted the reports of veterans being removed from their civilian positions after requests for protocol clarifications and training guidance and without corrective action taken by their supervisors prior to termination. Additionally, he mentioned that veterans have reportedly been fired for minor infractions they were unaware of due to the challenges of transitioning from active duty to civilian life.

In his statement to the Washington Examiner, Mills criticized the CBP under the Biden Administration for neglecting veterans. He mentioned that the transition from military to civilian life can be challenging for many veterans, especially those dealing with PTSD. Mills accused the current administration of neglecting veterans and failing to prioritize their needs, stating that veterans deserve better for their sacrifices to protect the country's freedoms.

Mills requested that Commissioner Miller provide information on the policies and guidance given to veterans for transitioning into civilian jobs, the differences between protection policies for substance abuse problems and veterans transitioning into civilian jobs, and whether a veteran is on the termination review board. He emphasized the importance of supporting veterans in transitioning from military to civilian life and extending grace where needed, given the sacrifices they have made for the nation.

The Florida congressman is part of a group of veterans in Congress who have been critical of the Biden administration's treatment of military service members. They recently introduced a bill to compensate veterans for vaccine-related injuries developed under the Defense Department's COVID-19 mandates.

Mills' concerns reflect a broader conservative perspective that prioritizes support for veterans and criticizes the current administration's handling of veteran affairs. The emphasis on empowering and providing resources for veterans in their transition to civilian life aligns with conservative values of honoring and respecting the sacrifices made by those who have served in the military.
