Former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley recently made her voting intentions clear in the upcoming election, stating that she will be casting her vote for former President Donald Trump over President Joe Biden. During a speech at the Hudson Institute in Washington, D.C., Haley criticized Biden’s presidency, labeling it as a “catastrophe” and expressing her support for Trump.
While Haley acknowledged that Trump has not been perfect in the policies she values, such as border security and maintaining strategic alliances, she emphasized the need for a president who supports capitalism and freedom. She also linked the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza to the 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan, presenting a contrast between the Trump administration’s foreign policy and Biden’s approach.

Additionally, Haley emphasized the importance of Trump reaching out to her supporters and not assuming they will automatically align with him. This sentiment was echoed in her suspension speech from the 2024 Republican presidential primary contest. Trump responded to speculation about Haley potentially becoming his vice presidential running mate by stating that she is not under consideration for the role.
Despite facing criticism from Trump, Haley remained persistent in her efforts to challenge him in the primaries, making her the last of the GOP upstarts to withdraw from the race. Trump expressed his concerns about Haley’s behavior in a conversation with conservative talk show host Mark Levin, highlighting the tensions between the two prominent figures within the Republican party.
