Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s presidential campaign got off to a rocky start when his own siblings openly denounced him and endorsed Joe Biden. In a statement posted on social media, Kerry Kennedy, Rory Kennedy, Joseph P. Kennedy II, and Kathleen Kennedy Townsend expressed their concerns about RFK Jr.’s candidacy, claiming that he does not share the Kennedy “values, vision, or judgment.” They further labeled him as “dangerous” to America. The irony here is that these siblings, who tout their support for values and judgment, have thrown their support behind Joe Biden, a candidate with his own set of questionable actions and beliefs.
Undeterred, RFK Jr. officially announced his independent candidacy for President in Philadelphia. He boldly declared that this time, the independent candidate will prevail and bring about a new era in American politics. While his siblings may be skeptical, Kennedy remains confident in his ability to make a difference.
Interestingly, earlier this year, RFK Jr. shifted his focus and began demanding an investigation into the corruption allegations against the Bidens. Previously, he had refrained from criticizing Biden, opting instead to promote unity in politics. However, with the release of reports suggesting a $10 million bribery scheme involving the Bidens and Ukraine’s Burisma Holdings, Kennedy felt compelled to speak out. He emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into these troubling allegations and expressed concerns about the politicization of federal law enforcement.
It is commendable that RFK Jr. is willing to address these concerning issues, even if it means going against the grain and facing backlash from his own family. Perhaps his independent candidacy will encourage a much-needed examination of corruption in politics, ultimately benefiting our democracy.
