America Needs Trump, a Super PAC linked to former President Donald Trump, is set to release a new advertisement on Wednesday that slams Republican Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, for voting to cut social security and Medicare. The advertisement, which will air nationally on Cable News Network(CNN), Newsmax, and Fox News, shows a man picking between a hat with DeSantis’ name on it, and Trump’s signature red “Make America Great Again” hat.

The man is seen in the ad saying, “This new one looks pretty good” as he decides which hat to pick. The narrator then informs the man of how DeSantis has backed deep cuts to social security and Medicare. The man is shocked to hear this as he thought DeSantis was one of the good guys. The narrator informs viewers that DeSantis voted to cut social security or Medicare three times and had even tried to raise the retirement age to 70.
The ad concludes with the statement “America Needs Trump! Make America Great Again Inc. is responsible for the content of this advertising.” This is the most recent attack by Trump’s PAC against Ron DeSantis, as part of their ongoing weekly ad buy.
Politifact, a fact-checking website, had reviewed comments made by DeSantis’ 2018 primary challenger for the Governor’s seat, who also criticized DeSantis’ voting record. They stated that DeSantis had voted for three Republican Study Committee budget resolutions in 2013, 2014, and 2015, which did not become law and were non-binding. Therefore, they do not cut any seniors’ benefits.
In light of these findings, it appears that DeSantis’ voting record has been unfairly criticized by his opponents. However, it is clear that America Needs Trump is committed to protecting the interests of seniors and ensuring that their benefits are not cut by unscrupulous politicians such as DeSantis, who put their interests above those of the people they represent. The ad is a timely reminder of the need to elect true conservatives who are committed to protecting the interests of the working-class Americans.
