Trump Narrows Gap with Biden in Traditional Democratic Stronghold Minnesota

A recent poll in Minnesota shows that former President Donald Trump is not far behind President Biden in the race. The poll found that Mr. Biden was leading with 45% and Mr. Trump was close behind with 41% of likely voters. There were also 7% undecided and 6% supporting independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. This is a significant development as Minnesota is usually a stronghold for the Democratic party.

Political analysts have suggested that Mr. Trump’s strong showing in Minnesota could potentially dash Mr. Biden’s chances of winning the reelection. This would make Minnesota a battleground state, which has not happened since President Richard Nixon won the state in 1972.

In the 2016 election, Mr. Trump narrowly missed winning Minnesota, coming within 1.5% of the vote. In the 2020 election, Mr. Biden won by a significant 7-point margin. However, the recent poll shows warning signs for Mr. Biden, including a large enthusiasm gap, with Mr. Trump leading among voters who are very enthusiastic about their preferred pick.

Both Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump have approval ratings that are underwater, with more people disapproving than approving of their performance. The survey was conducted from June 3-5 and had a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.

This poll indicates that Mr. Trump has a strong chance of competing in Minnesota and could potentially make it a challenging territory for the Democratic party in the upcoming election.
