Kamala Harris discussed border security on NBC's "Meet the Press" on September 11. Todd asked Harris, "Would you call the border secure?"
after a record number of illegal immigrants snuck into the U.S. last year.
Harris suggested passing a bill to provide a citizenship pathway. "The border is secure, but we also have a broken immigration system."
Over 1,946,780 illegal aliens have been encountered along the southern border in 2022, surpassing last year's record of 1,734,686. Over 69% are single adults. In Trump's final year, there were 458,088 border interactions.
Todd questioned Harris about the border's security.
Harris responded: "We have a secure border in that that is a priority for any nation, including ours and our administration."
She repeated her earlier claim that it is a Biden administration goal to "put into place a law and a plan for a pathway to citizenship for the millions of people who are here and are prepared to do what is legally required to gain citizenship."
AMNESTY PUSH
Democrats want to give millions of illegal immigrants amnesty and citizenship.
Joe Biden said during his 2020 campaign that he would work with Congress to help 11 million unauthorized immigrants gain citizenship.
The Biden administration sponsored the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021, which would have given illegal immigrants citizenship and green cards. The bill died because Republicans opposed it.
Democrat politicians wanted to include amnesty measures in the Build Back Better Act, which would have granted amnesty to 7 million illegal aliens and work permits to millions more. The Senate didn't take up the House bill.
"Secure" border?
Harris' comments about "Rep. Mayra Flores (R-Texas) said on "Sunday Morning Futures" that Harris "had done nothing to secure South Texas' borders." Idle."

Harris' border security comments
In 2019, Harris said illegal immigration shouldn't be regarded as criminals on "The View." "Civil enforcement, not criminal," she said. We can't treat border-crossers like criminals.
Harris wrote in "The Truths We Hold" that a border wall was a waste of government money.
She told NPR she "wouldn't implement a rule that rejects people without providing them a fair and legal procedure"
Harris said sending the military to defend the southern border was "vilifying people" and that there were more serious matters, such as "climate change, because guess what, buddy, it's a catastrophe."
