Election Hangs on Supreme Court, Left Cries Voter Gap

The upcoming presidential election could hang in the balance of a pivotal Supreme Court ruling that could sway the results, and it has nothing to do with the former President Trump, thank goodness! The Brennan Center for Justice, well known for their left-leaning bias, has pointed out a rise in the gap between black and white voter turnout since the Supreme Court chucked out a piece of the Voting Rights Act back in 2013.

That Supreme Court, dominated by conservative justices, made the call to do away with a chunk of the Voting Rights Act in the Shelby County v. Holder case, which was supposed to protect against racial discrimination in voting. Chief Justice John Roberts even had the audacity to claim that America had changed for the better and that special voting protections weren’t needed anymore. Talk about living in la-la liberal land!

The Brennan Center’s research raises concerns and slams the Supreme Court’s decision as shortsighted. They argue that the gap in voter turnout between black and white voters has widened significantly in areas previously under the Voting Rights Act’s scrutiny compared to other regions of the country. But hey, don’t let facts get in the way of a good political narrative, right?

Critics of the Shelby decision have been quick to jump on the bandwagon, claiming it’s making it harder for minority communities to vote. They’re even throwing around terms like “Jim Crow 2.0” to describe state-level efforts to tighten up voting procedures. Hmm, last time we checked, making sure people are who they say they are before voting doesn’t sound like a new form of racial segregation to us!

After the Shelby decision, states run by those pesky Republicans in the South wasted no time bringing in tighter voter ID laws. Go figure. Apparently, wanting a fair and secure voting process is now seen as a cardinal sin in some circles. Sheesh! At least these states know the importance of protecting the integrity of the vote – something every American should be on board with!
