Supreme Court Ruling May Doom Biden Too!

Last week, the Supreme Court took on the important task of deciding whether or not former President Donald Trump can be removed from the ballot in Colorado. Now, those wild leftists might be cheering for this decision, but they should be careful what they wish for. Dispatch columnist Nick Catoggio has a message for them: Be prepared for the consequences. According to Catoggio, if the court rules against Trump, it would set a precedent that could also lead to Biden’s disqualification.

Catoggio, in his latest article, argued that disqualifying Trump would unleash the “gravest crisis of government legitimacy.” He started by reviewing the facts surrounding Trump’s case. Trump’s candidacy is being challenged under the infamous Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, also known as the “Insurrection Clause.” This clause states that anyone who has engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the United States can be disqualified from holding office. However, Catoggio is confident that the Supreme Court won’t plunge us into a crisis by removing the presumptive Republican nominee from the ballot months before Election Day.

But hold on, if Trump were to be disqualified, Catoggio believes that red states would seize the opportunity and take aim at Biden as well. He argues that Biden’s failure to secure our southern border would provide sufficient grounds for his disqualification. As Florida Governor Ron DeSantis eloquently put it, “Could we just say Biden can’t be on the ballot because he let in eight million illegals into the country and violated the Constitution, which he has?” If this were to happen, the legitimacy of the entire election would be called into question.

Imagine a world where both Trump and Biden are disqualified from the ballot. According to Catoggio, that would mean the end of democratic legitimacy. No matter who won, the outcome would be seen as illegitimate. Currently, most polls show Trump winning the national popular vote, a feat no Republican nominee has achieved since 2004. So, clearly, a lot of Americans support him. If the people’s choice is barred from running, it would undoubtedly spark talk in red-state legislatures about secession. They might argue that a country that denies its citizens the right to elect a candidate backed by a near-majority is no longer a meaningful democracy.

In the end, the stakes are high, and the consequences of disqualifying Trump could be dire. It’s not just about removing an individual from the ballot; it’s about undermining the foundations of our democracy. The leftists who wish for Trump’s disqualification might want to consider the dangerous precedent they are setting. We cannot allow political gamesmanship to trump the will of the people and the legitimacy of our electoral process. Let these arguments be a reminder that fairness and respect for the democratic process should always take precedence over political biases and desires for power.
