Biden’s Red Tape Stranglehold Costs $51K per Worker!

The Biden administration and its predecessors have been smothering small businesses with an astronomical cost of about $51,000 per employee, according to an end-of-year analysis by the Competitive Enterprise Institute. This hefty burden is starving many firms of crucial investments and causing the prices of consumer goods to skyrocket. The administration’s insistence on social justice demands and union labor requirements has further escalated the overall impact of rules and regulations to a staggering $3 trillion, as reported by outfits that monitor government red tape.

Clyde Wayne Crews, a vocal critic of the administrative state, lambasted the long-standing consequences of creating such bloated government regulations, warning that current shortsighted interventions will only continue to harm future generations by diminishing their living standards and opportunities for prosperity. Crews has been relentless in his calls for the Biden administration and Congress to follow the transparency standards set during the Trump era and to reconsider the exorbitant costs imposed by converting White House executive orders into rules.

Furthermore, the Biden administration’s unwavering reliance on red tape to push its social and environmental agenda, particularly when facing resistance in Congress, mirrors the tactics employed during the Obama administration. Crews pointed out the alarming number of regulations published in the Federal Register, revealing that Biden’s tally this year nearly matches President Obama’s peak, surpassing 90,000 pages.

Drawing from a recent report by the National Association of Manufacturers, Crews highlighted the overwhelming impact of regulations on small businesses, which bears the brunt of the $51,000 cost per employee. The report underscores that federal regulations’ expense on Main Street has surpassed a staggering $3 trillion, ultimately outpacing the entire economic output of the manufacturing sector. Notably, the typical U.S. firm incurs an excessive cost of almost $13,000, equivalent to a staggering 19% of its payroll expenditures due to federal regulations.
