In a recent happening, Democratic Sen. Laphonza Butler from California made a fuss about President Joe Biden labeling the perpetrator who allegedly murdered nursing student Laken Riley as an “illegal.” This so-called killer, Jose Antonio Ibarra, is from Venezuela and sneaked across the U.S.-Mexico border unlawfully. The University of Georgia police nabbed him for slaying the 22-year-old nursing student on February 23. During his State of the Union speech, Biden mentioned the incident after being called out by Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia. He also managed to fumble Riley’s name during the address. The nerve!

Butler seemed to sympathize with Biden’s predicament, claiming that Republicans were trying to provoke the president with their heckling. She defended Biden, suggesting that such language about immigrants was not actually in his heart. Oh please! It’s crystal clear that Biden was just using the politically correct playbook, towing the line set by the radical left. It’s sad to see Democrats like Butler bending over backward to defend such nonsense.
Of course, many other Democrats joined the chorus of disapproval, slamming Biden for daring to use the term “illegal.” They accused him of taking a page out of Trump’s book. The nerve of these progressives! They conveniently forget the fundamental principle of law and order. It’s not rocket science – if you break the law by entering a country illegally, you are, well, an illegal! But trust the left to twist the narrative and play the victim card.
It’s truly astounding how these Democrats can twist themselves into pretzels to shield Biden from deserved criticism. They conveniently forget the countless American families impacted by illegal immigration and the crimes that can result from porous borders. It’s high time we had leaders who stand up for the rule of law and prioritize the safety and security of American citizens over virtue-signaling to the woke mob.
As Biden continues to backpedal on border policies put in place by the previous administration, it’s no surprise that the number of encounters with illegal immigrants keeps skyrocketing. The United States Customs and Border Protection has reported a staggering 6.6 million encounters since the start of fiscal year 2021, with over 2.2 million in the current fiscal year alone. These numbers speak volumes, showing the dire need for strong border security measures to protect our nation from the chaos that can ensue when laws are not enforced.
It’s time for Democrats to drop the façade and face the reality that using the term “illegal” to describe someone who enters a country unlawfully is not offensive – it’s just plain accurate. America deserves leaders who prioritize the safety and well-being of its citizens above pandering to radical ideologies. Let’s hope that the next election brings in officials who prioritize common sense and law and order over political correctness and virtue-signaling.
