The outspoken ladies of The View have been ruffling feathers over some leaked audio of President Biden’s former chief of staff, Ron Klain. In the clip, Klain suggests that the president should focus more on skyrocketing grocery prices, rather than yapping about bridges. Some of the hosts nodded their heads in agreement, saying that Biden needs to pay attention to the everyday struggles of Americans and not just big infrastructure projects.
Alyssa Farrah Griffin, not a Biden fan, made it clear that nobody, not even the president, should be safe from criticism. She also pointed out that voters are feeling the pinch at the checkout line, so Biden better take notice if he wants to keep their support. Sara Haines chimed in, saying that even campaigning on these pocketbook issues could make a difference.
But not everyone was on board with the idea. Some hosts defended Biden, arguing that he’s focusing on the right things. They brought up his response to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, a situation where the president committed to funding its reconstruction.
Whoopi Goldberg, a vocal Biden supporter, vented her frustration, saying that no matter what Biden does, people are quick to complain. She defended Biden’s attention to the bridge collapse and expressed her annoyance with grocery store prices. Sunny Hostin also weighed in, asserting that if Biden doesn’t respond to a crisis, people criticize him, but if he does, they say he should be looking at something else. It seems like these ladies can’t agree on what Biden should be focusing on.
And let’s talk numbers for a second. The grocery store bill has surged a whopping 25% in the last five years. On top of that, the producer price index shot up 0.6 points to 2.1% in March, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a 3.5% inflation rise for the year ending in March. These numbers don’t lie, and they show that the cost of living is on the rise.
It’s clear that there’s some division over whether Biden is paying attention to the right priorities. With grocery prices soaring and inflation on the uptick, it’s a hot topic that’s not going away anytime soon. And with Klain’s remarks stirring the pot, it looks like the debate over Biden’s focus will continue to sizzle.
