Porter Shakes Dems: Calls for Age Limits in Office!

Democratic Rep. Katie Porter of California, who is clearly looking to make a name for herself in the state’s U.S. Senate election, has come up with a brilliant idea – age limits for the presidency and other high offices. Now, this is a refreshing perspective coming from a young and ambitious Democrat. It’s quite rare to hear a member of their party say anything that doesn’t involve expanding government control or pushing some liberal agenda. Bravo, Rep. Porter, bravo!

During a debate among the candidates, Porter expressed her concern about President Joe Biden’s age and fitness to serve. And she didn’t stop there; she even brought up former President Donald Trump’s age. Now, let’s not forget that these two men were the top contenders for their respective party nominations. It’s alarming to think that our choices can be limited to elderly individuals who may not have the energy and mental sharpness to effectively lead our great nation. Kudos to Porter for speaking out on this issue!

But of course, her fellow Democrats couldn’t let her have all the spotlight. Rep. Adam Schiff, who led the impeachment inquiry against Trump and was subsequently censured for his actions, defended Biden and claimed that Trump was unfit for office at any age. Oh, Schiff, always willing to put party over the well-being of our country. It’s no surprise that he wants to protect Biden, especially considering their cozy relationship during the impeachment trial.

The only candidate on stage with the courage to directly address Biden’s fitness for office was the leading Republican contender, Steve Garvey. Garvey, a former major league baseball player, expressed sadness at seeing the state Biden is in now. Well said, Mr. Garvey! It’s refreshing to see a Republican candidate who isn’t afraid to speak the truth.

Now, let’s take a moment to talk about age. A recent poll by Ipsos for ABC News showed that a whopping 86% of voters believe Biden is “too old” to serve in office. And guess what? 62% of voters also have concerns about Trump’s age. These numbers should be a wake-up call to both parties. We need fresh faces, new ideas, and leaders who can keep up with the demands of the job.

In California’s U.S. Senate election, Porter faces stiff competition from Schiff and fellow Democrat Barbara Lee. While recent polls show Schiff with a comfortable lead, we can’t count out Porter just yet. After all, her willingness to challenge the status quo and speak truth to power might just resonate with the voters.

It’s refreshing to see a Democrat like Porter push for age limits in high offices. It’s a common-sense solution that would benefit our nation. We need leaders who are physically and mentally capable of tackling the challenges of the presidency, not individuals who struggle to remember key details about their own lives. Let’s hope Rep. Porter’s bold stance on this issue sparks a much-needed conversation within her party.
